About the contest
The « Open Source Actors » Award honors companies, entrepreneurs, projects, and associations that actively contribute to the growth of Free and Open Source Software.
- Organized in the framework of the « Open Source Experience » conference in Paris.
- It serves as a catalyst for promoting the open source sector: the award highlights entrepreneurial achievements and the exceptional careers of individuals, both men and women, who drive innovation in this field.
- Finally, it is a communication and awareness-raising tool: the award concerns people, as well as companies and community projects.
Who can apply to the European price ?
- The « Europe/ APELL » category has been designed for organisations headquartered outside France and in Europe.
- Any organization or project can apply. Non-CNLL organizations are accepted. The competition’s theme is software; hardware is not included.
- Only one application per candidate will be considered. Winners from the previous round are not eligible to reapply.
The different price categories

Six « Open Source Actors » awards are distributed each year in the following categories: the European Award in collaboration with APELL, the best collaboration between public and private sector, the Business Development Award, the Best Open Source Strategy Award, the Open and Ethical Digital Award, and the Jury’s Special Award.
